Before reprising the role of the X-Men’s ‘Wolverine’, actor Hugh Jackman had to follow a very strict diet of limited calories and tons of exercise each day in order to tone up his physique.

Jackman’s calorie intake was limited to 6,000 calories each day. ‘Black Swan’ director Darren Aronofsky says during an interview with Los Angeles Times online that he was asked by Gavin Hood to improve on his characters’ physical appearances for shooting of the final X-Men installment.

Jackman says he weighed 95 kilos for filming of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’, versus his previous weight which was pegged at 86 kilos. He adds that the Wolverine he portrayed was different from the first installments of the series in that the character is more stocky and powerful.
